This is proof that you don't need expensive gear like Sinar, Horseman, Arca-Swiss, etc., etc. to make a great portrait. I think this is excellent.

Soft level 1, minimum soft effect that is enough for man. Ladies may

need maximum.

Beautiful light on his face, but you should make a decision - leave hands or crop them all.

Sorry, Jim. This is the gear once very expensive I suppose, though it's not mine. A professional studio camera with big old roller blind shutter (11.5 cm openning) is superb. No other shutter can accept this huge Cooke lens more than 10 cm in diameter. Though the shutter speed is not accurate we can enjoy "hand made" photographing. Very thrilling. Thank you.

Very nice portrait! And I think youe are correct, the number 1 soft setting is all you need for males.
