Robert showing off on 'The Warmup Problem'

deidson

Unfortunately, this picture ended up very underexposed in the dark parts, I think largely because just as I hit the shutter release, Robert (the climber) moved just enough to where the sun wasn't blocked by his body anymore. I'm not sure that I'm clueful enough to try to make up for this - or if it's even possible..

This could be good except for it being too dark overall and having no detail in shadow areas. Sometimes a silhouette can be dramatic, but in this case it just looks like underexposure.

Even thought this picture is very dark, I would say it's neither salvagable nor a total loss. Given enough time and patience in Photoshop you can bring out the elements so that you have something that's impressionistic at best, but it won't be sold to any magazines.

Along the lines of this? (Still haven't gotten down how to un-darken the sky, but I'm not a big photoshopper)
