Mike Marcotte 50,670 Posted October 7, 2006 This is pretty neat Linda, The DOF for this picture is perfect for me. I remember the first time I saw a cotton field. It was in Louisiana & I couldn't get over it. How can that puffy stuff grow on plants? Link to comment
LindaM 2 Posted October 7, 2006 Sophia, thank you! i thought the soft cottony clouds made a bretty good background for the cotton. Mike, this is Louisiana. when and where were you here? i grew up in Michigan, but love this strange and fascinating state. Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted October 8, 2006 You're right - cotton against cottony clouds. They make for lovely images ... but I can't imagine having to tend these plants! Do you have this in color also? I think that B&W is the right choice for this shot ... it's just that I'm curious as to the look of the color. Link to comment
LindaM 2 Posted October 10, 2006 Lou Ann, here is the color version. i like it too, but i thought the black and white worked best here. Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted October 10, 2006 I agree that the B&W is better. I was just curious... Thank you for posting it! :-) Link to comment
randall ellis 2 Posted February 23, 2007 Yes, the black and white has more impact that the color version. I also applaud your decision not to make the sky all dark and brooding, it wouldn't add anything and it's been done so much it smacks of gimmick unless very artfully used. I would consider bringing the highlight values up quite a bit so the cotton really shines, and perhaps see if you can get it sharper since there is so much detail in the stalks. Really nice shot just the same. - Randy Link to comment
aramat57 3 Posted April 16, 2008 Good choice in B&W. My Daddy was a cotton farmer, but by the time I came along he was doing vegetables and orchards instead, happy for me. I never had to work in a cotton field! Beautiful image, Linda. Best regards, Tammy Link to comment
