Hi Everyone,

I am new to the SLR Photography scene and recently started taking

photographs at night !

One of the things I am really having trouble with at the moment is

focus.. There is often little light available for me to clearly see

if I have the focus correct. I am using Manual focus.

Would love some feed back.

That lens gives a sharp picture at 300mm, IF you use a sturdy tripod, this shot looks as if you did not use a tripod. I think you would get better results with tripod and slower shutter speed. Also, try auto focus.

Hi, John,Were you using a tripod? You'll need one to get these sharp enough. And 300mm is marginal as to focusing on the moon. I've shot a few pics of the moon that you might look at, as well - perhaps to see how not to do it :)

THIS ONE was shot with a 600mm lens with teleconverter, and THIS ONE was shot with a 300mm (the details say 600, but it wasn't). It's a double exposure.

Maybe you had to enlarge this one too much, which might account for the softness. Keep at it. Cheers.

Besides the tripod, wich is a must for this kind of photos, the lens also has problems. It's not a very sharp lens at the long end on a 10MP sensor (not even on film, afterall).
