the luminance of the tree is eye-catching. the muted tones in the background nicely offset the foreground. nice shot.

but the light does seem a little flat. You've indicated it was pre-dawn and streetlight lit. I'd be curious to see a well lit photo with more contrast...

I don't like grainy skies, but you probably had to shoot with what was in the camera

I like the grain a lot, and I don't believe for a minute it was simply what he "had in the camera."

My camera has has midroll rewind so I could have change the film if I wanted to. I chose the high speed film for a couple reasons. It was snowing heavily and keeping snow off the lens was a real pain. The high speed film kept me from long exposures so I could keep the lens covered most the time. Secondly, I knew the film was going to produce a certain artistic grain look that would give the photo a simplistic feeling.
