ivo_cimmino 0 Posted March 14, 2002 Very nice colours. Right sheep slitly out of focus. Link to comment
philmorris 0 Posted March 14, 2002 Thanks very much. I was supposed to be photographing something else and just liked the wool blend colouring between fleece and fields. The sheep on the right is moving or out of focus as you say. Another good reason to stick to things that stay still. Link to comment
jkdeii 0 Posted March 14, 2002 Mmmm...they look tasty. I like the slight yellow color of this. Adds a bit of uniformity to the whole picture. Link to comment
allan engelhardt 0 Posted March 14, 2002 You could sell this picture in Wales: those sheep are so, are so .... BUT we won't go there!! :-) Lovely light. Really lovely light. A quiet composition. Link to comment
charlesshupe 0 Posted March 15, 2002 Good job focusing to get all three different planes clear. Link to comment
rogan 0 Posted March 15, 2002 Not always easy but with more split-second timing more interest could have been generated if these beast seemed more alert - as in making a loud noise, etc Link to comment
philmorris 0 Posted March 16, 2002 OK that's enough. It's a picture of three sheep yet I've got over 80 ratings. As I said earlier, for me the picture's interest is in the light; not the sheep. To deal with a few of your comments: Nader, an unusually funny and exceedingly original joke spoilt only by the inclusion of two superfluous "a"s, Messrs, DeLapp and Engelhardt, there is in fact a queue for the one in the middle. Paul Fisher got his ticket on it first saying how he fondly remembered the last time he dated a sheep with one back leg. Rogan, .. or as in "Silence of the Lambs" perhaps? Albert, ... best not disturb his sleep... Link to comment
leif_rudd 0 Posted March 17, 2002 phil, don't you wonder what they'd look like seen through the eyes of your dishwasher? some haze behind 'em would be interesting, but clearly the honey color works as well on sheep as on your hills. are you marketing that special lake district light yet? cheers ;-) leif Link to comment
arthur sevestre 0 Posted March 31, 2002 Phill, you're getting a 7 for the picture. I noticed by the way that there's some pretty nice light here. I just like the wool blend colouring between fleece and fields. You get an 8 for your comments (hahahahahahahaha) ;-) Link to comment
juergen_kollmorgen 0 Posted July 28, 2002 yes you are right Phil, the lighting in this photo is very special. But also the way you handled the DOF to isolate the sheep from the background. It would be nice if the eyes of the animals could be seen more clearly, but that is a minor thing ;-) Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted January 22, 2003 I like very the tone. Just a pity that the sheep on the right is not so well focus. Link to comment
g1 0 Posted October 3, 2003 Yes the light is truly wonderful Phil, but let's not detract from the sheep themselves! No need to be ashamed Phil, as you are not alone. After all some of the Pre-Raphaelites also had a penchant for sheep in 'sundown' light and they didn't try to hide their passion and claim it was just "all about the light"; William Holman Hunt & Ford Madox Brown. Yes, it's okay to be fond sheep - really. :) Link to comment
wingell 0 Posted January 15, 2004 Well, Phil, my wife and I both like the sheep photo. She remarked about the nice depth aspect and the good composition of the sheep, and I marveled over your capture of that lovely light. We should give you duplicate ratings! Excellent work. Link to comment
