Giant Redwood trees intimidate me. The green fern welcomes me. Thecolorful Rhododendrons and Columbine opens the petals of my mind withthe fragrance of the romance. The fog and clouds play the game of hideand seek between the trees and the branches of the redwoods. The sightof the ocean makes me humble, and when the Sun sets over the ocean, brings out every color of my mind...saying goodbye, but assuring likea father, that he is there still and would still protect me, even if Ican't see him until tomorrow...

Trip to Redwoods always brings various magical moments. This pictureis taken in May, in the beautiful Stout Grove area in the JedediahSmith Redwoods State Park. This picture is shot on the trail to theStout grove. We could not make to the end, due to the broken bridge. The slippery slopes made it difficult and to some extent dangerous todivert and cross the stream, especially with children. However arhododendron flower that fell and found itself almost glued with thegreen fern below that was rained just a while ago, and this shot madeit all worthwhile for photography in this area. Of course there wasmuch more than just that...enjoying the surroundings.

This shot is taken with 16-35 on 20D. The steps bordered with thegreen plants create the beautiful photographic location. The childwalking up the stairs brings motion and the distinct red hood of thejacket keeps the viewer attached to that motion of going up. There isonly one trick, for this picture. The shutter was open for 28 seconds!Yes, I used a polarizer. Slight Warming with filter 81A is applied inthe Photoshop.
