savone 0 Posted September 29, 2006 This was my second shot at a beach shoot. Honest critiques will help me improve so take a minute and tell me what you think. I appreciate your time. Link to comment

savone 0 Posted September 29, 2006 I am starting to get a big head... This is the second shot of this genre I posted and both are perfect (according to you folks). I have only been shooting for 10 months, I must be a prodigy. :) Thanks Link to comment
johncrosley 1 Posted September 29, 2006 Steve, the lighting is very good. I think you nailed it. (However, the expression on the model's face is a little contradictory -- in an inviting shot, she looks a little perturbed. In photography terms, this is oxymoronic -- you know, a 'giant shrimp' -- well this is an inviting shot which kind of 'disinvites' just a little bit or maybe I've just got my skeptic's hat on or have a funny mood today, and that's hardly important anyway, as I understand this post). But technically, limiting myself to technicalities about exposure, which is vital to a shot which I presume involves fill flash, this is just about perfect, or might have involved just a little bit more fill, just to suit taste, and it's all a matter of effect (I'd like to see more of her right eye, maybe, and that might involve selecting then using any one of six tools including shadow/highlight just for the selection which I find works pretty well for selected eyes because there seldom are selection marks and one hardly has to feather or take much care about the 'selection' -- good catch light in the model's right (as she views us) eye. neilpeters 0 Posted September 29, 2006 I guess this is where I add "couldn't you find a better ocean,?" (but its perfect, again!) She's stunningly photogenic, no worries there, and the composition is ideal. Her left arm/shoulder is dislocated and she is hiding her perfect hips with her hand (very common modesty move, by even the most seasoned models). Depth of color is fantastic. Link to comment
gb3 6 Posted September 30, 2006 Steve - It's a very good shot. The model is in a nice pose, and the background is very good. The lighting of her is also very good - I'm debating whether it could have been a little brighter, say with reflectors... this is a nit-pick because it is very good as is. The only constructive critism that I could really offer is that her pose be more 'natural' because it doesnt look exceptionally comfortable. I dont think she could prop herself up like that with her right arm for very long that is. But it does look exciting and dynamic. GB Link to comment
