Could you please put some of the more important information that is in your post above that includes "Production Notes" into the "Caption" section of the images main data? The vital information left out is that the image is not a photograph but a computer illustration derived of photographic images.

One post just a few above reads:

"I am getting the feeling that the frog is fake and that the setup is posed."

It is important to include that information on the main data list when some are rating this image based on it bieng a real, single photo.

The computer illustration that it is, I like what you were going after but you need to clean up some clone marks just to the left of the frog to add to the realism you were seeking.

The members of this site and myself would greatly appreciate it and thank you in advance.

Since the moderator's sweep through the comments that got rid of the weekly PS debate, I notice that the posts that followed have been all off topic or fall into the all-too-frequent 'I like / dont' like the subject' category. This is virtually the same thing as I like / don't like the genre. Isn't that what Brian referred to as a burlesque of a critique?

But wait, the image selection seemed to be based primarily on the attraction to the subject matter. I don't know if there was a lot of thought prior to the decision about the techniques used to create this composition, but isn't this supposed to be an important part of what we offer as feedback? We are meant to analyze the lighting, I assume, and decide how it helps or hurts the viewing experience, but how can we do that if we can't understand the sources? We are meant to look at the arrangement of elements, but I think most of us would agree that the standards for precise placement can be effected by whether or not the image is captured, setup or photoshopped. Do the elements seem integrated? Are they meant to give the impression of a captured moment? If not, are the subtle inconsistancies of light and shadow a reason to downrate the image?Or are we meant to give ourselves and the artist credit for understanding the theme, reacting to it emotionally, rather than analytically, and hit enter? Who benefits from that sort of approach? If ever there was a need for the elves to step up to the plate and offer an example of what an in depth critique should look like for future reference, this is it.

MODERATOR NOTE: The regular Moderator has been unable to log on due to computer problems. You just can't not check this POW every day! I think you all know that personal slurs, attacks and long lectures will be edited - or deleted... so why do it? It is not censorship -- Moderating is needed to keep things civil and prevent flames, egos, and long repetitive back and forth dialog that should happen in another forum or via e-mail. Everyone should try and remember that absolutely everyone here has a right to their opinion. All "opinions on the topic of the POW" are welcome and NOT censored... I'm back now and will check the POW regularly.

Interesting, but doesn't grab me. I've been trying to work out what it is that displeases me here - and several things come to mind:

- I don't think the color helps - would prefer either softer or b&w

- the glass is sooo clean and new looking, but the frame suggests it should be very old

- the forehead problem, along with the unfortunate shadow that appears to be a huge hairdo!

- I agree that this is not the right model for the shot, and she looks too heavily made up.

but I do like the idea.. :)

Why do I take photos?

Do I take them for you? Do I Take them for someone I dont know? do I Take them to gain acceptance? Do I take them to express some inner tortured soul that needs expressed? Do I take them to escape my day to day reality?

Nope I take them becasue I Love to take Pictures and to in my own eye capture something Diffrent and unique. Basicly I find it a challange mentaly and artisticly to try and look at something diffrently. When its all said and done the oppions of anyone on any website ammount to a hill of beans. When I Print out a shot and frame it and hang it on my wall and I smile that inner smile that says I made that and its beautiful. Then no ones oppion matters but my own. That moment is why I take pictures.

I suppose its why this person Took this Picture.

Well Smile and enjoy it. .. As I Enjoyed looking at it.

This is the first picture on which I have felt compelled to comment. I love the composition, and I really think the wood strips add to it. So there! :p
