I especially like the lighting used here.

It's a 4/4 for me (although I dont rate it) because

a) I dont like the subject of the photo

b) the lighting is too dark for my taste

c) the subject should be cropped more tight IMO

d) there is not enough background info to get a sense of space

 

Nevertheless your Geoda I photo is AMAZING :-)

Well, it's a 5/6 to me because: a. the lighting is difficult, particular, very clean in the sense of white balance preservation b.it adds intimacy to the image. The subject in itself might be mundane, however this shot transcends its ordinary essence through aesthetic value. c. the cropping should stay as it is, with a visual impact that creates a stable & unitary perception.

Expert use of lighting to make this image unique.

I like how you used light to make this subject different, original.
