joao cleto 0 Posted March 15, 2002 like the colors but dont like the street , i think to a crop would be better to show only the doors! Link to comment
havanai 0 Posted March 18, 2002 I would have waited another day or two for the snow to melt totally. Actually, I'd recommend going back and focusing on the three doors. They are your subject. To me, the patches of snow in the foreground are distracting clutter. I acknowledge that reflections of the colorful doors on the asphalt in the foreground might be attractive, but that would work better on wet pavement without the white patches of the almost melted snow. Good eye to spot the doors though and you have picked a good time of day and sun angle at which to shoot them. Link to comment
tim_miller3 0 Posted March 21, 2002 ...I love the reflections of yellow on the street mixed with the snow... Link to comment
mark_foglietta 0 Posted March 21, 2002 I like the doors and the colors. But I too feel the foreground is distracting. If the snow was gone and the reflections were stronger it might work better for me. Still it is a lovely shot. Link to comment
SolaresLarrave 2 Posted March 22, 2002 I didn't perceive the street at all. I saw the doors and that's what drew me to the photo. If I stop and analyze the shot, yes, the street is in the middle, but then, it also "frames" the doors. Ruth, where is this place? It's a lovely shot, but curiosity... Link to comment
ruth_christie 0 Posted April 22, 2002 Nice photo. I think that the reflections on the pavement do not define this image-they are too weak. The inclusion of the pavement is good though. Geometry and colors of the three doors are pleasant but too regular and thus boring without the pavement. I wonder how these colors would look under a brighter sun. Since I had only complaints :) allow me one more, the medium size photo is a little too big to see it completely on my screen(1024x768). -- Dan T Link to comment
ruth_christie 0 Posted April 22, 2002 Comments Out of curiosity, did you ajust the colour saturation very much with a computer program, or is this fairly close to what you captured on your slide film? I really like this picture! -- Kim Swayne Link to comment
ruth_christie 0 Posted April 22, 2002 Yes, I increased the saturation in Photoshop. I took this on an overcast day. The color of it on Provia film with that lighting is very different from other photos of this building which you may see in my Picturesque Village folder. Link to comment
ruth_christie 0 Posted April 22, 2002 Mac Damon has pointed out this is not level. I have finally figured out how to level things in Photoshop so here it is, hopefully leveled. Link to comment
john_s._flannery 0 Posted June 19, 2002 Ruth, I agree with Tim. It is a rare blending as you have cropped it. Implausible and exciting. Like the way tou are working very much. john s. flannery Link to comment
