Bambini del villaggio (Zanzibar)

I'm not sure why Maart calls it beautiful, but I am from Africa as well, have been to Kenia and surrounds, and I am just wondering: Why can't we photograph these poor little fellas doing something else than stare into the camera?

It's not your fault, and it's a nice photo - but I see these images all the time and I just wondered. On a technical note, maybe a tighter crop on the left will force the focus on the first boy, and then lead the eye down the line?

Just some thoughts, stay well.
