seandepuydt 2 Posted September 25, 2006 David, this is very nice. My only question. It looks like you may have used a filter to darken the tops of the trees. If this is the case, I think losing the details, at least on my monitor, makes me wonder why you included the tops of the trees at all. So, I'm asking what was your motivation to use the filter? It forces my eyes to the path for sure, but it seems a bit heavy. I think you've done a really nice job constructing this image compositionally. - Sean Link to comment
davidpemberton 0 Posted September 25, 2006 The forest floor was quite subdued light but the sky poking through the trees was burning out. So I used a .9 ND Grad filter to try and hold back some of the highlights whilst still retaining some of the detail. I take on board your comment and agree I could have cropped the top of the trees out - but I was trying to give some sense of scale of the height of the trees in relation to the path and the foreground Thanks for your constructive comments they are very much appreciated.
