olafdevries 0 Posted September 25, 2006 A very special one! (here I would have loved a sharp left one too..)Like the dividing of B&W! Suggest to crop another 2/3 of the neck (!)hair of the right woman. It's getting too much attention now, but it can't be missed. The result will be more brutal. Link to comment
dchatter 0 Posted September 25, 2006 You've raised two very interesting points; thank you! Let me see whether I can address them: Personally, I see the lady on the left as simply a dummy, a placeholder, but a very important one in the sense that her identity/face is not important, but her structure is. Therefore the defocussed appearance works for me. About the crop, if I remove her neck, the laces on the shoulder of the lady in white will disappear. Is that a reasonable sacrifice? I'm not sure. In particular, the differences in their heights is balanced by this cropping---the proportions of their structure inside the frame are close to (although not quite) equal. This is another instance of what I missed by shooting from the hip---the right hand of the lady in black---something to balance the left hand of the lady in white. Best regards. Link to comment
