Thanks for critique. This is a one shot photo and only altered the

contrast and sharpen. I didn't use ND grad filter to produce this

photo (Couldn't affort a ND grad filter). I learned a skill from

internet that I used a black card which is a normal paper card ( It is

better to have a non gloss card to prevent reflection) and covered the

sky part in front of the len before opened the shutter. Changed the

camera to bulb exposure mode. Then I counted myself about 2 sec for

exposing the land part and removed the card from the len about 1/2 sec

or less for exposing the sky part before I released the switch from my

remote switch cable. I think ND grad filter would produce a better

image but I found this way is fun.

Regards.

Well done. I took a photo class (just the 2 day type) where the instructor introduced this technique to me. I never tried it before going digital. He also said it was useful where only a small part of the photo needs less exposure, like a sun behind trees for example. You basically do the same thing but move a small card in a circular motion over the hot spot. Beautiful photo! 6/7

Thanks your comment and critque. Yes the black card method is working well special for me a low budget amateur photographer. Also I enjoyed this method like I am controlling the light and time of exposure but of course I did a few practice at home before did it on the field. Also I heard about someone can cut their black card to any shape to fit in different situations. But I need to practice more on cut shadow.

Wow, interesting technique. If you did not mention it I doubt that I would have noticed. All that aside this is a great shot, I like the way the rocks lead the eye to the sunrise.
