simonbode 0 Posted September 14, 2006 For Hindus, Varanasi is the place to die. Dying in Varanasi guaranteesmoksha, or liberation from the cycle of birth and death..more stuff Link to comment
sawicki 0 Posted September 14, 2006 That is a real dramatic image. Simple composition and great heaven perspective. Very good image. Link to comment
simonbode 0 Posted September 14, 2006 thank you, i really can t convince myself if colour or b&w is the best for the pic, as i like the strong contrasts here-otherwise i ilke the red in the colourversion...hm Link to comment
gcanyon 0 Posted September 15, 2006 Simon...I prefer the B&W version. This is a very powerful image. Death and life. My eyes are drawn to to the dead man's hands. They are relaxed....at peace. I have the sense that the young man is looking and wondering....when will I be like this. I have been in Varanassi and seen scenes such as this, but have not captured any as well as you did here. atkphotoworks 0 Posted September 16, 2006 Simon, this is a powerful image. I am torn between the colour and black and white. Each has its strengths. Link to comment
philip_coggan 0 Posted September 20, 2006 (I came over from the dark side:)). This is a nice shot, a story told clearly and unmistakably. I think for pj work b/w has certain strengths over colour - colour tends to become an end in itself, and so to overwhelm the story. Not that it casn't be done, of course. This is a good photo. marco_ruggiero 0 Posted October 5, 2006 Great compositiona and very powerful image,as great photojournalistic character. For me B & W is preferred but only because of personal preference and in this case, I feel, it has a tremendous impact. Great image. Congratulations. Link to comment
