david_bowman 0 Posted March 8, 2002 i find this picture very interesting. in fact, i really like it. it's very mysterious. is the message that of being let down? or...vacancy? it really screams "no people" at me when i look at it. Link to comment
scoville 0 Posted October 25, 2002 I'm not sure wht everything is so out of focus. To me, it feels more like a mistake than an intentional shot. Link to comment
felix_the_house_cat 0 Posted May 11, 2003 Its very human, a man leans over the table with tears in his eyes and can barely realize whats around him, but still you see a repitition in the pattern with the chair that simulates a harsh reality relentless in its symmetry and we cant live in, cant take it all in, objectively its nice because our eyes cant focus on the entire picture/scene anyway, a focused photo is not what our eye sees, this is incredible. joe_garrick 0 Posted June 12, 2003 The comment by Felix perfectly illustrates the appeal of this type of work for some people - you can make up whatever story you like to explain it away. Here's my story: A guy at a computer sees a picture of an out of focus ash tray and thinks to himself "I'm glad I quit smoking, because if I shot this, I would have a much more unique photo of an out of focus empty table." manu_vermeiren 0 Posted June 25, 2003 Here's my story: "I just saw some beautiful light/shadows at the end of the table, I focussed on it and I tripped the shutter." Greetings, Link to comment
sandler 0 Posted June 27, 2003 Anyone who thinks this is out of focus hasn't looked at it. I admit I was surprised when I first saw it (in the Leica forum) but my eye immediately went to the sharply focussed right chair shadow. It's pretty clear you did this intentionally. Anyway, I don't know what it is, but something about the organization of the lights and darks and blurry and sharp mesmorizes me. I think this photo is wonderful. It's making me want to go out and experiment with focus more. I just wish I could see this well in-camera. Link to comment
