This is one of several images captured on film. This Roman Catholic

Church is in the heart of the Historic Germantown Section of

Philadelphia. This Catholic Community is a very welcoming place.

Their Pastor, Father John has allowed me plenty of access to his

church although I am not a member, but do attend often. One of the

members of the church, does die sublimation printing. When I am

completed my captures we are planning on having several large prints

made using this process.

I captured this image on film using a 16mm Russian Made semi fish-eye

lens.

Your thoughts please.

In terms of composition, its not particularly interesting. A partial view of church pews, overexposed lighting coming through the doors and overexposed light coming through the side windows. Pictures of church interiors are quite common. I've got a bunch myself. But in this manner, I don't find them very interesting. The fisheye lens gives an interesting effect, but in this case the image was taken in the classic standing up straight pose, which is now so common with the near total disappearance of TLR cameras, where the image was taken from a much lower and perhaps more interesting viewpoint. Taken in this manner the point of interest appears to be the church aisle and the doors in the distance. Everything else is pushed off to the sides.

Thanks so much for your critiques of this work. The "yellowing" comes from a light yellow filter I normally leave in the lens, for most indoor shots the effect is not as "yellowish". Since I tend to take a minimalist use of PS, I would probably be incline to retake the image without the yellow filter, instead of retouching it in the computer. John, you make and interesting point about the use of TLR. I have taken several images with a Mamaya C220 which are not as of yet posted, I think that most of those images are of other parts of the church. I have a 65 mm lens and an 80mm lens for the TLR. I wonder would using a fish-eye filter. whith the apeture stepped down to say f27 yield acceptable results.

I occasionally use a Bronica S2A with 220 film. If the Bronica had a shorter lens than its more or less "standard" 80mm, I would probably use it a lot more. I find the 80mm usually way too long for these scenes, and it gives me the feeling that I'm looking through a tube. Too bad a shorter lens for the Bronica costs about 3X what I paid for this Camera.
