I like it because it makes me think and I think it is good thing to think. I do not like that now I know what it is.

I like it because it's cleverly and well seen, imagined and executed. A nice print, all the rest is inconsequential as far as I'm concerned. Minor White would be proud.

Awesome abstract, very hard to tell what's up and down. I gotta second the fact that it does look like a crotch shot, and in my opinion that makes it even better :) I guess I'm supposed to offer a critique, the only thing I can think of is that I'd like to see a hair more white in the ripples.

Congratulations Brad. Original and very captivating. You have wit in your composition. A top 7/7 well deserved POW.

To Brett Cole,
For a moment I was confused and thought "a son of Edward Weston saying he doesn't like a dune photo? " I then realized that Brett and Cole were the names of his sons. This is a strange and ironic coincidence, given your opinion of the photo.
One of Edward Weston's iconic series was called Oceano, one of which was called Dunes. http://www.artnet.com/artwork/425978359/1050/edward-weston-dunes-oceano-ca.html
They were studies in texture and light, iconic because of their subtlety and complexity and tended to make one think of female shapes.
Brad's photo is a worthy descendant. The larger version, I feel, is even better than the cropped one. The original impression is definitely genital, but after a few seconds one is drawn to the lines, curves, textures and the play of light, dark and greys. The question of which way it should be viewed allows one to see it as an abstract, which it is. It is no more female than a Rorschach.
I have not compared it to any other pictures in Brad's portfolio, because it did not occur to me to look. The quality of the composition is evidenced by the varied opinions about it and the many interpretations. One can go back and look and find new things.
Having compared it to an Edward Weston, my opinion should be clear.
Good work Brad!
Howard
