hungry blue jay looking for peanuts

this pic was taken mid feb. after the worst ice storm we ever had in

kansas city, electric was off here at my house 8 days

I like the picture, but I wish the left side of the bird had more light to better see the blue plumage. The colors of the bird are a bit too dark, so detail is lost.

Agree about subject being a bit dark - may be lightened a little without losing effect? Like placement and background treatment - nice subject. I hope you fed him!

thanks for the critique, i think it was noon so the light was not good, yeah i had just put some nuts and sunflower seeds out that morning, i feed them every day, they depend on me now. (-:

Burrrr! I really like this-it's beautiful. I certainly have sympathy for the bird. Two criticisms: 1)shadow area of bird seems underexposed; 2)bird could be a tiny bit less centered on the horizontal plane. Neither of these issues takes much away though. Nice shot.
