well.. more on the spot than this! i like the concept PT, i like the blurred arrow. i guess a more tighter crop would make the image more abstract and let me focus only on spots... ok maybe i like cryptic images too much.

Nice job catching the dart just as it hit the target. I would like to either see a closer view, or see all of the dart board. Very good theme fit. Megan

Megan - I used a wide aperture setting, around f/3.5, to create a very small depth of field so the near end of the dart would be out of focus and make it appear that the viewer were looking down the end of the dart. Thanks for your time.

Giuseppe - I tried square crops, rectangle crops, circle crops, and crop circles trying to find something more fitting than a simple 4x6 and nothing worked for me. Thanks for your time.

This could almost fit the texture theme too! This may be a more literal translation of this theme, but it certainly works. On the asthetics side, a different crop could help, to work with the radial quality of the dartboard perhaps. Also, the colours here feel like an old dartboard (maybe it is!) and it could be more stunning to boost the colours/saturation. Just my thoughts!

It is not the " spiritual" concept but the literal one . It fits the theme, I like the idea, the blured arrow right on the spote.... only the crop as was already mentioned bothers me, I would like to see all of the dartboard, or only the round circles. I understand you have tried it PT, but a possibility I see is to take it full with a square backdrop ( a BG of some sort). anyway not an easy theme, and you have at least compet with the subject!

Interesting literal interpretation, PT. (And I don't blame you because the concept seems quite convoluted in its expression.) PT, you mention you have tried alternatives, but FWIW I would not have included the peripheral numbers and the backing board, and I would have increased the contrast to extract a little richness from the blacks and yellow/ beige.

What I like about the image is that it says heaps, there is in fact nothing left to say. The aperture choice is extremely cunning as the blurred flight imbues the scene with a sense of motion.

Nearly everything has been said already, so I'll just echo some. First off, well done PT. In terms of crop, I do like Seven's approach. From a conceptual interpretation, you are so "on the spot" that the numbers on the outside edge are completely un important.

Cheers,

A very literal interpretation, that is true, but I think it still works pretty well for the theme. I like a lot the version submitted by Seven. The way you have it now, there is too much distraction coming from the corners.

You beat me to this one PT. I had the same idea, but haven't had the time to setup the shoot. The cropped version definately helps the overall photo.

(I'm going to be really picky here... perhaps it is because I used to shoot darts; sorry in advance.) First of all I love your ap setting and this is a nice effect. This being a set up shot I would like to see the dart in the exact center; it is off by one and the theme being "on the spot" I'm suprised no one else has commented on this. I too would prefer the numbers being cut out.
