I love the foreground here in terms of composition and lighting. I can't help wondering if the shot would be improved by cropping to a 2:1 format. But I wouldn't want to lose too much of the dark cloud either...Where is this?

Sorry- i meant 2:1 ratio, with the width being twice the height.

How DO you get that smoothness to your pics?
