I like the contrast between the "perfect people" in the billboard and the "real people" they seem to be smugly looking at- with a stone wall separating them.

Thank you all so much! The incommensurate sizes is a problem with this picture, as Karina very objectively points out; partly it is intended, but this is too great a distance I agree, for the child's expression to be even properly visible.

I see Karina's point, but I also think that if the two real people were closer (e.g. in front of, or almost, of the photograph), composition would be poorer, and the shot would be more static. Moreover, I am not sure that seeing clearer the child expression would really matter much (while it is significant that the child is looking upwards, as if in the direction of the big faces in the shop window, and the man is smiling). Just my thought.

I'll take your first point as is.

I think Karina made precisely this point that we're not sure where the child is looking; well he actually is looking at the poster, which I can see in the larger original. I'll post a different picture involving this poster later.
