stephen hazelton 3 Posted September 6, 2006 I like the contrast between the "perfect people" in the billboard and the "real people" they seem to be smugly looking at- with a stone wall separating them. Link to comment
olafdevries 0 Posted September 6, 2006 Very good admosphere..! Like the "contact" between boy and wall guy.. Congrads! Link to comment
street photography karina 0 Posted September 6, 2006 The moment is ok, the distance of the man and boy is too big. You hardly can see their expressions. I like the idea though. Link to comment
dchatter 0 Posted September 6, 2006 Thank you all so much! The incommensurate sizes is a problem with this picture, as Karina very objectively points out; partly it is intended, but this is too great a distance I agree, for the child's expression to be even properly visible. Best regards. Link to comment
LorenzaF 0 Posted September 8, 2006 I see Karina's point, but I also think that if the two real people were closer (e.g. in front of, or almost, of the photograph), composition would be poorer, and the shot would be more static. Moreover, I am not sure that seeing clearer the child expression would really matter much (while it is significant that the child is looking upwards, as if in the direction of the big faces in the shop window, and the man is smiling). Just my thought. Lorenza Link to comment
dchatter 0 Posted September 10, 2006 I'll take your first point as is.Regarding the second point, ``... it is significant that the child is looking upwards, as if in the direction of the big faces in the shop window, ...'' I think Karina made precisely this point that we're not sure where the child is looking; well he actually is looking at the poster, which I can see in the larger original. I'll post a different picture involving this poster later. Link to comment
