you're instincts are right: this would be a so-so shot without the guitarist. See how it looks with the columns on the extreme rhs cropped out. I think you need more asymmetry in the composition.

Great light and exposure. Perhaps, if you moved slightly to your left, the columns would fall in line and that "open doorway" would have been removed, as it is somewhat distracting.

I like this version better. I've always found it difficult to convert color to black and white correctly.
