sanandan 0 Posted March 4, 2002 When the light is low, and you shoot at aperture wide open, you loose the DOF that sometimes makes or breaks a great picture..What do you think about the DOF here? Should it be more? Link to comment
bradlinton 0 Posted March 4, 2002 I like it. Simingly simple, but powerful and original. Link to comment
robert_kennedy 0 Posted March 4, 2002 Is it just me or did someone shave that chimp? Seriously...it looks bald! Which makes it look more human. Which makes this an AMAZING image IMNSHO. It truly humanizes the subject. Link to comment
nick_loscalzo 0 Posted March 4, 2002 Looks very good, and it made me do a double-take to see if it was a statue or a living creature. Very neat effect. Kudos. Link to comment
sanandan 0 Posted March 4, 2002 Dear Robert, she is the oldest in the group! She lost all her hair thinking! Link to comment
g1 0 Posted March 4, 2002 I thought it was a sculpture when I saw the thumb view! A beautiful characterization of an animal thinking. At least we like to think she is thinking. Link to comment
robert_kennedy 0 Posted March 5, 2002 I guess zoos don't suplly Rogaine... :) It really makes the photo though. Like everyone else I thought it was a statue at first! Link to comment
mauriciooperti 0 Posted March 5, 2002 Worse for me, first impression was she was playing a guitar! And these relatives of ours DO think. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted March 6, 2002 It seems odd to me that so many people have said such good things about this one, but not rated it. It is one of the best of your photographs. Link to comment
sanandan 0 Posted March 6, 2002 Thanks Boris, even I was wondering about the same thing! Link to comment

thales milesius 0 Posted March 12, 2002 That's what this picture says to me. The composition is clever because it allows us to doubt about what we are looking at is indeed an animal or a kind of human. By focusing at the muscles instead, the analogy gets stronger and so it contributes to the whole analogy system, which in my case leads me to the greek sculpture. Great shot. Is it a snapshot or was it prepared? Link to comment
sanandan 0 Posted March 12, 2002 It is a candid shot..and do you know it is through Glass in the MKE zoo! The caption was an after thought. Link to comment
patrick_f._aguila 0 Posted March 16, 2002 Hard to believe it is not a statue. Powerful image. Thanks for sharing. Link to comment
john_hansen_flaschen 0 Posted March 23, 2002 Wonderfully conceived and framed. On my recently calibrated monitor, this image has a strong green cast, maybe stronger than you intended. Most of your posted images do not have a green cast. I've e-mailed you a version of this photo modified in Photoshop to give a stone color for the statue omn my monitor. Link to comment
kej 0 Posted March 28, 2002 I too thought it was a statue.It looks a lot like Rodin's Thinker.Take a look: http://www.webshots.com/g/58/23-sh/8128.html Link to comment
ken_imduaikiat2 0 Posted April 1, 2002 Well I didn't look at the title until later. For me the image tell a slightly different story.. the animal was some-how got a serious trim (perhaps because of the heat or some infection). And for the first time, the animal get to observe it's bare skin. That's all the story, which I think is good because you capture the moment quite nicely. I love the difinition of the muscles and your focusing selectively on the face and the hand which I think is great. As far as the composition is concern, I think it's a little loose on top of the frame. That's all. Again, a very good catch. Link to comment
michael_c_smith 0 Posted July 10, 2002 I thought I heard Also Sprach Zarathustra while I was viewing this shot. Seriously..great piece of work. Link to comment
ron c sunshine coast, qld,a 0 Posted July 21, 2002 OK,this one had me freaking out at first.Um,that IS a chimp, right?wow, where's the hair gone,....no it's an old muscley man with a fake looking monster head on it!!Still looks abit too freaky even 10 min later!AWSOME shot!!!!!!! Of course the shallow depth of field is perfect, that angle of view is unbelievable for showing off the 'humaness' of her body. Link to comment
