Wondering if there were any opinions on the angle and cropping.

Nice. I love the diagonals. The cropping's fine. If improvement is possible, I would say that the solid-looking block of dark, saturated green in the top right corner is a tad too heavy for the rest of it.

and the pale/pastel coloring is nice. Thought it might be a bit more dramatic in b+w and might take care of the green in the upper right, so took the liberty...hope you don't mind.

The green doesn't fit, the hair across her eye is distracting and the focus is off. But I think you knew all of that already. As to your direct question, I like the angle. Generally speaking, I think that the crop is great but her hair in the top left corner goes in a different direction than the rest and seems to make her head look a bit distorted to me. I was going to suggest a slightly tighter crop to correct that but I think that you would lose too much of the hair above her forehead and part of her ear if you did that. With Respect, Anthony

I just finished looking at your other shots of her and I've changed my mind. I would now say that it's the chair that doesn't fit. When she is surrounded by the green, she stands out very well and I think it adds a lot to the photos! -Anthony

Thanks for the comments. the green is actually just the grass in the background. I didn't realize that it would be so vibrant until later. As for the focus, I actually shot with a very shallow DOF with the intent that only the forward eye would be sharp. Maybe it doesn't work... any thoughts?

I see what you're saying. I think that two things are working against you in making the effect work well. First is the hair over the focused eye. Second, I'm not sure that it looks deliberate enough. I took out the hair and added a spot on the eye to see if that would help. Kind of a sloppy job, but it shows the idea. What do you think? I also touched up the grass area because the original touch up was obvious on my monitor at home. I didn't notice it on my monitor at work. You may want to calibrate your monitor, as I think my one at home is more accurate to what most others are seeing. I'm not sure of the best way to that but with mine I just printed a picture and matched the monitor to it. -Anthony
