WOW... this is very nice Carl, the best reflection i have see from you into quite a time (and i have seen many). I am attracted more by the left side of the frame, probably becouse of the more prominent distortion, but also a tight crop on the right lower crossing between red lines would be very very intresting.

Hey Carl. I like this image a lot. The only thing I see is that it looks a bit dirty. Not in the spot sense but that the image looks to have too much black in it. I'm not looking for velvia or anything but just a bit of a cleaning.

Nice shot for sure.

Thank you all for your compliments and critiques.

This was uploaded using a lousy monitor, and I didn't realized this was a version that hadn't been spotted and was also a bit too dark. I've taken the liberty of replacing the original.

I waited to get the best cloud "coverage" before taking the shot. This was the best I could get, but I actually like the more sparse area on the right since it allows the broken red line and heavier small black loop to play off the clouds on the left.

well done indeed.

I would have gone for a higher contrast between blue and white, but that is a mere personal preference,

I tried your idea using selective color to make cyan a bit darker. Looks fine, but if you go too far, it accentuates the usual reflection artifacts that you get from polarizers.

Very well seen. I like the simple composition without any artifacts using the most simple tools of creating abstract image of red, green lines. Whether the title refers to what you see first and which catches the eye can however be questioned.

Looking at the composition I wonder whether this is not an example where we feel somewhat bound by the format. One could imagine the same composition but with a shortened heigth of the frame. This would concentrate the composition even more on the red lines and the horizontal dynamics of the scene. All a question of subjective views of course.

Anders, I don't know if you've seen the other shots in the folder, but from my perspective, the lines are a given and the challenge is to find interesting reflected subjects to play off the them. This one is a bit different because one reflecting wall is in shade, the other in full sun, so you get the light red / dark red balance happening.

Interesting ... I always thought that the caption of the folder ("red line") was because Rockville is on the Red Line portion of the Washington Metro. :-D

That's a good one! Maybe I should try to market this collection to the folks at Metro. . . . show Brian what a real subway station gallery looks like. :-)

Honestly, Carl - no kidding at all. I REALLY thought that's what the title of this folder referred to from the very first time I visited here. And I would be surprised to find out that you haven't already looked into marketing this stuff!

surreal and real x natural and man-made = an excellent shot as always

(I have always considered myself a nut, Carl)

Out of the many window reflections images on PN, this is one of the best. Well seen and composed. The combination of straight and distorted lines with the amorphous clouds is wonderful. Beautiful work.
