krisb 0 Posted August 31, 2006 Nothing is perfect, but to me this photograph is as close as you can get. You can see just enough detail, which creates mood. The composition is perfect for this shot, and you got all of the reflection. That is a job in itself for these types of shots. The tones are captivating. Love it! Link to comment
will king 0 Posted August 31, 2006 Kelly, you have really come a loooooong way. This is no ordinary lightning shot. You've framed this with the branches and the reflection is just an added bonus. The tones are great. I wouldn't change a thing. Congrats on really improving your photography. Link to comment
mayabenari 0 Posted August 31, 2006 woah!! talk about being in the right place at the right time. good job Link to comment
carsten_ranke 0 Posted August 31, 2006 I wouldnt change anything. This is not a common lightning shot, as already stated. The branches are perfect framing and their patterns echo the lightning - this makes the shot stand out of the crowd IMO Link to comment
robvine 0 Posted August 31, 2006 Excellent shot, just seems a little tilted which is a little distracting from an otherwise perfect lightning shot. Link to comment
kellyphillips 0 Posted August 31, 2006 Thanks to everyone for the feedback. It really means alot to me. Will King, I give alot of the credit for my "improved photography" to you. All of the countless emails you have answered, no matter how stupid the questions may have been. That's what photo.net is all about. Thank you very much for that. Link to comment
misterwelter 0 Posted August 31, 2006 Wow. Very nicely done. Nothing to improve here. Link to comment
sardonic 0 Posted August 31, 2006 I have nothing to add to a perfect photo, but as I was passing by this one I had to comment. This is the shot that all lightning photogs want to be there for! Super! Link to comment
drybrain 0 Posted August 31, 2006 excellent capture. lucky? sure. but fortune favors prepared minds. congratulations. having said that - a little space at the bottom would make it less crowded, IMHO. Link to comment

larry d. boswell 0 Posted September 1, 2006 "Was bound to happen sooner or later". Congratulations! Great, very great, picture! Perfect framing and exposure! My (home) computer has been down for a while so I missed quite a bit here at PN. Glad I checked in to see this! Once again Kelly...I'm very proud of you! Larry Link to comment

neilpeters 0 Posted September 2, 2006 utterly superb, and tonal range on a lightning shot, dang :) excellent composition. well done Kelly. Link to comment
kurt2006 0 Posted February 14, 2007 Kelly, I'm so jealous because I live in a place with lots of water but never lightning. There is a lightning flash like this perhaps once every 2 or 3 years. You can only capture an image like this with skill at storm watching AND photography both. Best wishes to you. Link to comment
kellyphillips 0 Posted February 14, 2007 Thank you for the comment Kurt. This is my best lightning pic so far. Link to comment
