jason j 1 Posted August 31, 2006 Is this evocative? What does it make you think? Thanks. Link to comment
msoskil 0 Posted September 1, 2006 Clever concept - child walking into cemetery. Definitely provokes thought. Couple things that may give it a more dramatic punch imho: Horizon seems to be slanted left to right. I'd definitely straighten that out. A darker, more foreboding sky would be helpful to the visual metaphor between life and death - maybe even a b&w shot with an orange or yellow filter to really darken the sky and make the clouds pop. As is the pink jacket, foliage, bright scene take away from the message you are trying to convey (I think - I'm infering from the title). Also, I'd off-center the child a bit more and maybe shoot from a lower angle (almost below her eye level) w/ a wide angle lens. I guess something about the pic turned on my creative side because I'm rambling. Thanks for the kind words in your comment. I also love the stadium seat shot in your portfolio. Your best imho. jason j 1 Posted September 3, 2006 Thanks for the feedback, but the photo is intentionally ambiguous. The child and the graveyard represent whatever the viewer wants them to represent, but I think of both as my future. I will die leaving only my children and creations. I used a tripod for this shot, but the cemetery is on a hill, so that slant is natural. The blue sky and mix of fall trees and evergreens is also meant to show permanence of live in general mixed with the decline of individual lives. Link to comment
