williammccarey 0 Posted August 27, 2006 Windmill was still working on this dilapidated ranch. Water was still pumping out for the cattle but the barn was rotted. Link to comment

susan stone 0 Posted November 16, 2006 Ah ha....an original and interesting perspective on an old windmill. Most windmill shots are of the whole thing, tower and fan, and I've seen dozens of them, this one is "fresh". The fans of the windmill and the old boards on the barn look like locking cogs and Joe was right about the clouds mirroring the windmill, gives the image a nice sense of motion. Link to comment
williammccarey 0 Posted November 16, 2006 I appreciate the comments from both of you. I've watched this place deteriorate for the last 25 years. The windmill is still pumping water for the Angus cattle (formerely Charolais, then before that Brahmas). The barn will be gone in the next storm this year and a tiny piece of history with it. susan stone 0 Posted November 16, 2006 Lots of old homesteads in my area and I can see a yearly progression of deterioration and loss of history. Link to comment
joe baker pine bush ny 0 Posted November 17, 2006 the same in upstse new york. corn fields are being turned into house fields, no landscapeing just a house with no charm or personality. farmers know they are sitting on millions in property value. my farm will be a farm till i die. Link to comment
