yves_jalbert 0 Posted August 26, 2006 I like the composition, I especially like the angle and I like the over exposed effect you are giving to this photo. However if you're going in that direction, my personnal taste (just a personal preference) is that it would look even better in black and white. My final suggestion/comment is that a pulled out white card from an external flash on-camera, or a softbox would have given nice catch lights in the eyes, making the photographer less noticeable and giving more dept and contrast to the eyes. But that's just a very very small thing. It's a good shot and I like it. The subject looks relaxed and there are no forced expressions, very natural. Link to comment
tim a 0 Posted August 26, 2006 Hi Ruben, I really like your photo. I'm new to photography, and would like to get better with help from pros like you. how did you do that? The washed out look. Thanks for your time. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 26, 2006 Yves: Thanks for your comments, appreciated. I am realizing that I need to be more careful with the reflections on the eyes. Something I don't realize until I see it.. I'll try to be more careful Tim: this is known as high-key, you may find thousands of explanations for this technique if your search in the internet. For this particular case, I shot in RAW and manipulated the exposure and curves using ACR (Adobe Camera RAW) to get a 16-bit image. Then I added 2 more layers using photoshop, one for curves with a mask, and the other with a 'softlight' blended layer with another mask. The masks were made manually, as you would do it in the darkroom. This last one layer I used to promote the tones over her eyes, the lips and the hair. Regards Ruben Link to comment
