Mooring masts for the space shuttle

The Petronas Towers dominate the skyline in Malaysia's capitol city of Kuala Lumpur. These buildings are just over 1,400 feet tall........Freaky because when I was out in Kansas for 2 years, I got bored and climbed a radio tower that was some 60 feet higher. Nikon F-100, 17-35mm 2.8 @20, f/8,bracketed between 10-30 seconds, Fuji Velvia.I posted this image not because I it is all that great but to prove how DAMN good the scanner is at recording shadow detail. Nikon Supercoolscan 4000ED, Apple Powerbook G4 with one gigabyte of ram.

Daniel--

Actually, the world really does need pix of the Petronas Towers, if only to show the world Petronas is more than the sponsor of a midpack F1 team.

You have a nice shot, and the best night shot I've seen of the towers, but you haven't caught the essence. Nobody has. Go to this link to see what I mean. I hope you shot bricks of film.

Another observation: the towers themselves are lovely, but the park it's set in is ugly. It doesn't look as if these guys can't build a skyline. Is this actually true, or do they just not have anyone to capture it properly?

An historic note: "Infidel" architectural firm Cesar Pelli & Assoc designed Petronas on an 8-pointed star motif, a classic Islamic design. Cesar Pelli & Assoc. also designed the plug ugly World Financial Center complex in NYC, perhaps as a rough draft. Kudos to the WFC structural strength, though: the buildings withstood the WTC collapse next door and most of their windows were unbroken.

Hope it was a productive & good trip.

.......chunk out of the 60MB original scan. Nikon Supercoolscan 4000ED. Crazy good piece of hardware, might be my favorite photo goody. I have to hold chromes up to a light bulb to see the shadow detail that things puts on my screen. After the scan is done, the image falls into the belly of an Apple Powerbook G4 with one full gigabyte of ram......... "Burp"!

Who should we be complimenting then, the photographer or the "all hail the mighty coolscan ED". Just wondering, can we get paid for this :-)

Is that a long exposure by any chance? The

light seems very defined. That view, looking up

at the towers reminds me of "Entrapment" the

Shawn Connery film, I can almost see him dangling

from the towers in your shot! ;)
