nirakara 0 Posted August 20, 2006 I am not quite sure how this works for negative space the way I've perceved it, but others might have a different opinion. There is some 'negative space' around them (although with some patterns peeking in) but not quite strong enough to qualify as negative space for me. Chitra Link to comment
lucyhollis 2 Posted August 20, 2006 Is this use of 'negative space' similar to the sheep image? ie the space of the mind and what these chickens could be staying to each other? If so, a closer crop might be more effective in order to cut out the flower, which although are pretty, detract from the theme. Link to comment
dominiquedodge 0 Posted August 21, 2006 I'm struggling to find the theme fit here unless its about the embroidery that remains to be done still where the pencil lines outline flowers. Could that be your idea PT? A good one if so, but then I think we need more clues (needle, thread etc) ... please help! Link to comment
seven 0 Posted August 21, 2006 I'm not so sure about the theme fit, but have no problems inventing dialogue for these two! Link to comment
steven lundberg 0 Posted August 24, 2006 OK, ever the bull in the china closet, I have to come right out and say I don't think, from the definitions offered so far, that this is a theme fit. I like it fine, but would need you, PT, to explain to me how you felt this fit the topic at hand. Regards, Steven. Link to comment
pt2 0 Posted August 24, 2006 Thanks PT for the comments. I will try to explain my concept a little. This is an embroidery used as a table centerpiece. As you know, an embroidery is an "ornamentation of fabric with needlework" (source: Answers.com). To me, this art is really tied to negative space as only the needlework 'draw' the contour of the piece, everything else being negative space. Sadly, I do not have a better centerpiece than this one to show my concept. I would have liked a smaller drawing with more empty space, so I could get closer and be able to actually see the needlework details. Here, it's hard to see, but I can clearly see it on the large version I have. I will post a small crop. Also, the brown portions on the left are portion of the table under the centerpiece. Overall, I guess I should have worked this concept a little more, but I do agree it is not the best theme fit overall! Link to comment
