akbar 0 Posted September 1, 2002 I had mixed feelings about this one. I'm sure you all know the feeling of having previsulaized an image and have the final outcome somewhat different from what you initially intended. In those cases where the previsualized image is pretty close to the final outcome one does feel a sense of accomplishment. This was one of those cases for me. It was a simple composition with few elements - the shape of the branches and the contrast between the dried orange seeds and the clear blue sky. I was happy with the image but also at the same time feel there is not enough in there to hold ones attention. Would welcome your thoughts. Link to comment
paul_boghita 0 Posted September 1, 2002 I aggree with your comments above. I too feel that there is too much empty space in the image. What I would have tried was to get closer to the orange/red objects on the branch to balance the overall image. Link to comment
jbrand 0 Posted September 2, 2002 This photo,to me, expresses beauty through simplicity and understatement. I like the colors and the way the space is used. If this was your intent when this shot was visualized, you did a great job! Link to comment
srspears 0 Posted September 4, 2002 I like it. I like the space, and of course the splash of red! Don't be afraid of "open" space in a photo. There's no such thing as empty.. just not busy! The photo is unusual, and striking. thanks for sharing! Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted September 4, 2002 The color and space work well here, as does the composition. Simple subjects like this are often hard to frame. However, I wouldn't mind if you'd lose the matting effect and load a slightly bigger image. Link to comment
dick_stahlke 0 Posted September 5, 2002 Any time one can previsualize an image and then succeed in having it reflected in the actual result, it's a good thing!!! I like negative space in an image, and I think you use it well in the composition. You've pinpointed what the one critique is that I would also make... the need for a little bolder center of interest. The orange berries certainly try to do that but larger or more of them would enhance the overall impact, I think. Link to comment
tony_k. 0 Posted September 15, 2002 Hi Deepak...I think that the photograph captures the grace that nature intended together with a simple presentation. Personally, I would have liked added features that are unmistakeably Ginko. Link to comment
