pedja 1 Posted August 13, 2002 What do you think of this photo? How would you make it better? Would it maybe be better in monochrome? Is the tree positioned in the right place and what do you think of composition? Link to comment
flaviosganzerla 0 Posted August 13, 2002 I like this picture but i think it could be better if were a little more ground here. And there is a dark area in the upper left of the image that i don't know if is the sky or not. Link to comment
photoguy2010 0 Posted August 13, 2002 But I agree, there should probably be a little more ground. Great texture and color though Link to comment
john_pettitt 0 Posted August 13, 2002 I did a quick cust and paste into photoshop and confirmed my hunch that this looks better as a color shot. I like the shot and while I tend to agree a little more ground would be good it's not a deal breaker for me. Link to comment
bees knees 0 Posted August 13, 2002 This is extremely "nitpicky" but I swear that little dark spot in the upper left corner keeps attracting my eye. Link to comment
shawnc 0 Posted August 13, 2002 I like this picture, the colors are just the right mix, and the tree gives the eye something to look at. Now maybe a little more of the ground like the other people said, well make this a winner. Link to comment
audidudi 0 Posted August 13, 2002 The first thing my eye settled on (after the tree, of course) was the dark patch in the upper lefthand corner. As a view camera user, I'm always careful to look for this before I fire the shutter and while in this case it may simply have been the clouds doing their thing, I do find it distracting. I also agree that the image would benefit from having a bit more ground visible. Still, there's a lot to like here... Link to comment
bruce_hamm 0 Posted August 13, 2002 Nice work, Predrag. I guess I'm in the minority here as I don't think that by capturing more ground would add much to the image. Given that this is a silhouette, I doubt that the ground would be rendered as anything other than pure black. The sky is what's visually arresting here and I think you did well to capture as much of it as possible. I suppose that more ground would balance the image a bit better, however I rather like the composition as is. I do agree that cropping the left side would be of benefit though. Link to comment
paul_frank 0 Posted August 13, 2002 There's certainly a simplicity that is very nice here. I am having a difficult time believing the colors are not doctored here. Perhaps they are not, I'd like clarification here, Predrag. No matter what the colors really are, I really cannot find much room for improvement other than to ground it a little by including just a bit more foreground, even if it is pure black. julietray 0 Posted August 13, 2002 I bet this would be spectacular shot with a fisheye lens. Link to comment
mudshark 0 Posted August 14, 2002 Like several others, I too am distracted by the dark spot in the upper left corner. So, I copied it to my photo software, recropped it, and find I like the resulting photo better. Such a small change but it improved the picture. Nice shot Predrag. Link to comment
thephotoguy 0 Posted August 14, 2002 The dark spot also catches my eye as well, BUT I love the colors. Reminds me of a cold day and the tree being bare tells me this is in the winter or Fall seasons. Link to comment
nomade 1 Posted August 14, 2002 This is a really good shot! The sky seems almost texturized. The off centered silhouette of the tree is a good touch. I wonder if increased contrast could have accentuated the shapes of the sky, dramatizing it even more. Also I think a frame could help a lot too. Link to comment
peten 0 Posted August 14, 2002 Strong shot but something about the colours troubles me & i cant put my finger on exactly what. Link to comment
._.9 0 Posted October 26, 2002 I agree with Flavio. I don't really think it is a good lighting but in those conditions you cannot do better. Link to comment
dvm 0 Posted December 30, 2002 Like it. Next time, really, get some more visible background.Very good color and fine color gradation from top to the bottom - nice to see it. Storng graphic at the foreground adds a dramtic effect to what the color already did.B&W for this, you ask? No way!For a lot of maestro B&W is just a simplest way not to deal with the accurate colors handling, because they do not want or just can not. Believe me, you do not need it here. Link to comment
blaise_fiedler 0 Posted January 21, 2003 One of your best shots - the clouds are really interesting, so it is good you placed so much weight on them. I would not change the ground level. The leafless tree really does the trick / perfect in the cloudy mood! Well done, Blaise Link to comment
michael grace 0 Posted July 19, 2003 My favorite of your folder (and you have several very good photos) - I agree with the others that you could crop that spot on the upper left. If you did'nt want to crop you could clone some sky from elsewhere in this photo. This is a really fine photo and I think what makes it really suceed is that the sky retains some texture and light glinting which makes it much more alive. If it were completly in sihouette it would still be ok but here it illustrates just how important the "little" details are. Link to comment
jeffrey_sipress 0 Posted September 23, 2003 Predrag, I like this a lot, and I also like your whole folder. I agree with many of the comments and suggestions above, but it is still real nice as is. Link to comment
