Bente, I don't remember that conversation, but it TOTALLY sounds like something I would say. In fact, when I found the article online, I was convinced that there has to be something more to the name than "The Round Tower", and so I figured that it must be some fancy Danish word that no English-speaker can pronounce like "Frikadeller" or something. :-) Apparently, I am wrong on the same question twice. :-) Hahaha!!

I have just looked back in my pictures from the days you were here. I succeeded finding them even it was alittle hard( 2 new cats - 2 camera changes and 2 lense changes since then) and I found these 2 from the day we visited The Round Tower. Do you recall this situation here with the wedding pair and the photographer taking their pictures in the tower?

is here. Special sight in the tower I think. You were wondering about the dress being red I remember.

....The Danish language can be a hard one ... but your pronounce of 'frikadeller' was right.

I DO remember that ... that's RIGHT! How cool that they were having their photos taken here. I didn't get any shots of the couple (or their photographer) ... just this one of the empty passageway.

Thanks for sharing the story, the link, and the images. Another new camera? Are you not still using the 20D?

Excellent comp. and lighting. I don't think the window is too hot. Great lines and shapes in the hall. Well seen and captured.

Took me half an houre to arrive here Lou Ann ;-)), I think you have done a real good jobe . Window light source that enters softly gives the round forms of construction a delicate appearance, . Your crop is very well done. I would not have changed the tone of color which I think is very beautiful. I like the second full image of the place. real nice work.

I have followed the link Lou Ann, it is a nice composition of the place, but I like your crop and color from the two, as it shows better the fine atchitectur of the place.

Bent's nice examples are adding to the impression.

I've been puzzling over this 'sliver'. Is it still there? Has anyone removed it in a plain brown paper envelope? If it is the bit I think it might be then you can't remove it (by moving a little to the right) without taking away some of the 'architectural logic' of the vault above the window. You could make it a little further away from the vault on this side by moving a little to the left. but that would change the relative position of the window etc. So I reckon on balance you have it about right and the 'sliver' is something we are all going to have to learn to live with.

I like the colour and texture here but it might well work in b&w or some other treatment to bring out the nice tonal quality.

Sounds an interesting place.

Lou, I'm not creative as concerns titles either. I have seen so many marvellous photos without title. When it comes to paintings many have "titles" like "painting, 1957) or "composition", "Opus No xx", "Landscape", Nude, My uncle etc. We are not alone with the problem.

You can alternatively title it: "Medieval light" (although it is far from being medieval), "Go up-stairs in the old days", "Rundetaarn (1637)"- the year it was build, or "209 meter up - 36 meter high" (the length of the staircase and the height of the tower ! You could also just call it "The Round Tower, Copenhagen".

All good ideas, Anders. Thank you! :-) After reading your suggestions, I was going to rename it "Landscape", but thought that "Rundetaarn" better reflects the Danish culture of the shot. ;-) Thanks!

Lou Ann

Thanks for your comments on my version of the RundeTaarn. I also like very much your version. The sepia tones are also working very well for this kind of image.

I have been many times (more than 100 over a period of 30 years) in Denmark for business and allways tried if I had some rare free time to use it photographically

I guess I'm a little late getting here. . . I think this is one of your best images, Lou Ann . . . the lighting and the tones and the perspective from which it was taken are really fine . . . great work!
