There were hundreds of raindrops but just this one that captured a

reflection of my backyard and deck. Comments appreciated, thanks for

looking.

This is wonderful! A minature bird feeder reflection!

I am having a stroll through your gallery and had to stop and comment this one. Many more need comments also. But you have so many excellent photos in here.

PS: I only rate now to add to my highest rated page. I need this one on my list. Thanks.

I am aware of Biliana's work, thanks.

I think what I liked about this was the natural colors and your ability to see this drop just as it happened. The DOF and soft colors when first looking at the photo are attractive, restfull; and. my eye immediately goes to the perfect little reflection. I might crop a bit off the bottom and the right in attempt to get rid of the bright bottom right corner and take the drop out of the center of the shot. If the format is closer to square a centered subject looks better, I think. I might sharpen it a tiny bit with unsharpen mask.

As you can see I much prefer your drop to the bright, colorful drops that are confusing to my eye and appear over processed, but that is just a personal preference, I guess.

I became aware of your portfolio when Cyrus linked me to his very helpfull information on your blue jay photo. I'll be baaaaaaaccccck! oh oh

Thanks for the note on my portfolio.

Thank you Maggie, I'm flattered. At the time I posted this I was doing no editing, mostly everything in the singles folder is straight from the camera and a beginner's crop :) I have many here now that I should come back to and work on...I never noticed that corner until I re-opened it to view your comment and it was the first thing that I noticed! I'm learning ever so slowly.

I was attempting to photograph phlox buds which are very interesting, when this caught my eye. I have a minor problem in finding some of these, lost a computer over the summer....some are on disc but time consuming to find a particular shot. (Live and learn :(

You must keep your own way of shooting. I like your style, that is already becoming apparent. This is not something all of us are able to do. As you saw, I am all over the board with my stuff. But that is the way I think my mind works, rather chaotic.

I am glad you had some back up on the photos. I know it is difficult to find any older original, even if it is still on hard drive.

Just for the sake of the discussion, and not to make you go searching... I have taken your large version and played with it a bit. Not necessarily better, just different. Cropping, levels, a tiny bit of contrast and minus brightness, unsharpen mask. Even so, mine looks a bit too processed compared to the original.

Maggie, that shows the detail in the reflection better. I'm betting if I apply

those edits to the original it won't look as processed. Someone also shared with me some noise reduction software that is pretty impressive, Neat Image, free upload available, and may help as I crop these down. I also might be able to touch that corner up now with some cloning, allowing me to crop a bit more square. I'm pretty motivated now to go find this one...:)

Thanks for the comment on style, interesting as I enjoyed the diversity in your portfolio! Also was very excited to see you had a Holga, my husband has one--(and many other older film cameras)- and has gotten some interesting shots with it. He's had no time to scan them in, but hopefully soon. I've told him he "has" to visit your site.

Thanks, I have neat image, but seldom used it, until recently. I am having lots of noise problems with my Canon S3 IS, until I learn to use the ISO, AV and TV settings to best advantage. I have loaded my most recent blooper to my blog -- begonia at begonia I had to clean that one up. I don't see a lot of noise in your photos though.

I love to use my Holga, but have not done very much of it, lately. (Need to scan in a couple more too) Here is a site that your husband will find far more interesting than my 3 photos Toy camera I don't belong to the Toy Camera site yet, but like to go look once in a while.

Cheers
