This photograph, and the others I have posted on Photo.net, are taken from kite-lofted cameras. A kite, unseen in the image, supports a small, radio-controlled cradle that holds a Canon SLR. I can position the camera by walking around and/or letting out or retrieving kiteline. I aim the camera and fire its shuttler using the radio while I stay at the ground end of the kiteline. The camera can rotate through the compass, tilt from horizon to nadir, and change from portrait to landscape format.

As a matter of (questionable) pride all of the images are presented full frame. I compose my images by watching the camera and imagining what it would see. The whole process entertains me to no end.

Really nice and even more impressed when I read how you do it (guess you have that camera tied tight and its pretty shock-proof on the way down!!) - colour/light great.. well done!!

It's you again.... you own a helicopter or something?.... I love the composition in this shot. Clean and simple... yet bold enought to capture the audience's attention. Nice and long shadow casting. Also I like the color + directional relationship between the red kite (i guess) and the red shirt.

very cool.

seems like it would be tough to even tell which way the camera is pointing if its way up there....

hmmmmm.... definitely interesting.... a bit awkward to the eye, but only because of its originality.... i'm not used to seeing shots which "may you wonder".... i found myself trying to figure out exactly where the camara had been placed for the shot... overall - excellent job!
