pnital 36 Posted August 14, 2006 Amar, it is very dark and the hand on the right is a bit strange, I think it is the singer done as before?( a kind of replica?) The diagonal singer at the left has a nice expression and details are clear. Link to comment

atkphotoworks 0 Posted August 14, 2006 Pnina, thanks for your comments. The image constitutes two different images of the same vocalist but in different states of expression. I have posted images of her before as well in my two portraits folders. I'm not sure what a bit strange means, but that's fine. I reduced the opacity of the background image (the one on the right). The point was to accentuate a graduation without cluttering the image with two overpowering portraits; instead I kept one more subdued. Link to comment
haleh b 0 Posted August 15, 2006 I am digging this scene! I immediately started to relate to her complexity and music. I agree with Pnina as far as the darkness is concerned but for some reason I am not minding it at all because the other elements are offering a contrasting balance. Link to comment
parvindabas 0 Posted August 15, 2006 great picture and the darkness works because it gives the picture a certain mood. Link to comment
atkphotoworks 0 Posted August 15, 2006 Thanks Haleh and Parvin. Haleh, I'm glad that you felt the complexity of her music comes out. The type of music that she sings - called Carnatic Music (South Indian Classical) has a great deal of complexity and takes years of training to master. It should be noted that North Indian Classical music (Hindustani music) also takes many years of training. I believe one of the principal exponents of Hindustani music has a school in the SF area. His name is Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. Parvin thanks Bhai. The darkness is of course something I tend veer towards. Link to comment
