kahkityoong 0 Posted August 11, 2006 I think this is the best from my most recent shoot at Cradle Mountain, taken around sunset with a bit of pink in the clouds. Specifications : Gitzo tripod, 2 stop ND grad, f22, shutter 2.5 sec, ISO 50. Link to comment
mikestacey 0 Posted August 11, 2006 Definitely very good Kah. Everything's come together here; light, colour and composition. This looks like the "magic" moment which usually only exists for a very short time at sunrise and sunset when it all comes together. Link to comment
I had liked to give you a couple of seven, but the system .. already you know, only it(he,she) gives us 14 days to re-put, an interesting image, with a bellisimo setting, light, color and great composition, I believe that in a little time you have turned into some of the best landscape painters of this WEB. Thing that is of agrader since we learn all, thank you Kah Link to comment

kahkityoong 0 Posted August 12, 2006 Many thanks for the numerous critiques. I was acting as 'tour guide' for my family recently who had never been to Cradle Mountain, however when the unique light trasformed the landscape in a way I had not seen before, I quickly set up my equipment. The water level was much lower than my last trip here and the submerged rocks I had previously used were now a rocky path giving access to this area without getting wet. Thanks for your support Julio, you seem to leave a critique on almost all my photos. I like your comment about the slow 'film' Robert. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted August 12, 2006 Kah, I looked again at your previous image taken at this spot. I think that composionally both of them are very beautiful and rich, I do like the light here, I think it is the perfect light, the sky are brighter than in the other one which affect the FG, reflections. The line that connect reality and its reflection is more accentuated, even the small ston did not move ;-)) In any event, beautiful corner of earth well taken by you. Link to comment
robvine 0 Posted August 12, 2006 Once again, a great shot Kah. Did you think about using a polariser? It may have removed some of the refections in the foreground reevealing the submerged rocks while still leaving the reflection of the mountain. Link to comment
J. Perez 0 Posted August 12, 2006 Perfect! Composition, color, light, everything. I agree with you this may be the best of the Cradle Mtn series (at least the ones I have looked at). Cheers, J Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 13, 2006 Kah, another excellent shot. Well done. I have a technical question if I may. You use a Cokin grad ND. A lot of people don't like this brand. What are your thoughts? Link to comment
kahkityoong 0 Posted August 13, 2006 Again thank you for your contributions in ratings and comments. Andy, I use the Cokin ND filter but I have just bought a full set of Singh-Rays because of my disatisfaction with the Cokin filters. Cokins are great when you start off because they are cheap. However they are not truly neutral, you get a magenta colour shift if not careful. If you stack more than one filter at a time the colour shift is so great the images are virtually usuable. Robert, I am finding I use the polarizing filter less these days. Firstly it is difficult to use with wide-angles without causing a 2 toned sky, secondly is the vignetting I get with an ND grad stacked on. Of course this doesn't stop me using them when needed. In my vision of the scene I wanted the reflections of the clouds prominent rather than seeing through the water. There was also some mud around the stones under the water which was unattractive.
