I used a Bogen 3030 tripod, mirror lock up (Leica R9) and the R-Vario Elmarit 70-180 APO.

Even shooting at f 2.8@ 500th, I sill got some tree movement (wind was really blowing). I

sought to capture the moody, brooding sky and dark green tones with moving sun patches

across the river and the hills to the right.

 

What might I try next time to improve this shot?

Two shots -- one exposed for the sky, the other for the earth. It wouldn't be too difficult to stitch them together. Or, shoot B&W with an orange filter. I like the composition itself, the meandering green next tot he meandering water.
