tbt 0 Posted August 8, 2006 This is my very first upload to photo.net, and I am a beginner. I am just trying to learn more. I used a polarizer and a longer exposure to get the water effect. Please critique anyway you can! Thanks. Link to comment
sunapeephoto 0 Posted August 8, 2006 This is well composed. I am usually not a fan of water lines through the middle of the frame, but it works here. The colors are pleasant and perhaps could be a little more intense/saturated. The rocks appear a little soft at the edges to me and I'd like the trees to either have more detail or more totally black. Great first post to photo-net. John Link to comment
bpk 0 Posted August 8, 2006 Hi, I am also fresh at the forum, congratulations for the desire to show your things and learn :) I like your photo, I myself adore the blurred water effect with longer exposure. Do you know that using ND filter you may even get exposures up to ten seconds at daylight :) Try some unsharp masking in photoshop maybe. Link to comment
jesus_ayala 0 Posted August 8, 2006 Hi Brian, Beautiful colors, what I suggest is to move the horizon from the middle ground a little bit to the top, also I would like to see more of the rocks. By the way what aperture did you use?. You shold use f16 and up to get a clear scene (all in focus) Just my opinion, Welcome to PN. Regards. Link to comment
sunapeephoto 0 Posted August 8, 2006 I made some quick adjustments just to give you an idea of what I meant. I didn't do any fine tuning, so the edges are sharp and I missed a couple spots. (Hope you don't mind) John Link to comment
tbt 0 Posted August 8, 2006 Thank you so much for the critiques already! They are very helpful with identifying areas that I can improve on. Link to comment
tbt 0 Posted August 8, 2006 Jesus- I used f22, which was the highest I could go. John- I do like your modifications, I'll have to play around with sharpness and saturation a bit more. Oh, I dont mind editing my picture at all :) Link to comment
tbt 0 Posted August 9, 2006 I tried to touch up the photo a bit in photoshop using some suggestions recommended above. I'm not the best in photoshop but I want to see what everyone thinks about this one compared to the original. Thanks! Link to comment
sunapeephoto 0 Posted August 9, 2006 Very nice Brian. It has more punch. It would look very nice printed out on watercolor paper. John Link to comment
