katzpjs 50 Posted August 9, 2006 Naim to me the duck distracts from the nice abstract quality of the image. If you like the duck then I think it needs to be more of the central object in the image. To me this look like a nice landscape with a duck being thrown into center-front. VERY center-front and I don't think it fits. Maybe if there was more water in front of the duck it would work better for me? Link to comment
nozturk 0 Posted August 10, 2006 OK, Shawn, I think I would chose the other image, the one without the duck, if I had to make a choice. I really like the stillnes, the tranquility of that image. But I also like this one in the sense that, the duck causes a 'disturbance' in this perfectly tranquil world and as if aware of the disturbance it causes, hurries to move out of the frame, leaving a wake of ripples behind. There is something poetic in this image, some haiku quality if you wish. I am thinking of Basho's famous frog haiku: "The old pond/A frog jumps in/ The sound of the water." I almost hear the sound of the ripples! Link to comment
