Breakfast on the Tonle Sap River.

DB_Gallery

A woman brings breakfast on a boat to people in the village of Bat Preil, Cambodia. The floating village sees the Tonle Sap River rise and fall with the runoff of the Himalayas. This occurece makes it one of the richest fish havens in the world. Nikon F-100, 17-35mm 2.8 @ f/8 1/100 Fuji Provia 100F

Very good. About the more color. The print most likely looks great! We have to remember here on PN and other sites that our Monitors are set at all different settings! And the quality of each of our monitors is different. And the Web as great as it is. Is not the best place to view images yet. But we can only work with what we have. Just something to remember when viewing an image for value and color and tone etc.

great photo - and I like the colors the way they are! it thus avoids the cliche "velvia" look. These mild colors give the picture an "early morning" feel. If it had the "velvia" colors, I probably wouldn't have looked twice.

I really like the composition of this photo. With just a passing glance at the webpage I had to know more about it. I wanted to know what was happening and where it was taking place. Great Photo!

Manu: The reason everything is in focus at a mere f8 is because he's using such a wide angle lens. Remember, long lenses have short focusing lengths (which is why so many fashion photographers use big 2.8 zooms), while short wide-angle lenses have much larger degrees of freedom when you're quickly trying to snap a shot off. It's a dark shot as it is, and if Mr. Boyer didn't do any photo retouching (which I'm very willing to believe), you can see he was stretching it at f8. A smaller aperature would have pushed everything to black. Very nice work, Dan.

I know from comments here that you are a journalist. I wonder if you teach and exhibit. I live in the NY area and would like to know if you come here to town.

Thats a great documentary shot....like some many other great shots in your amazing portfolio. I like the way you have exposed the shot and also the colours. Nothing is enhanced, things are like they should be but the play of the setting sun on the utensils and cooking pots make it work beautifully.
