The thumbnail is wonderfull. At large size I find the well illuminated areas interesting. The large part of dark areas disturb me ( monitor is well calibrated here ) . Or maybe youve just got to much items in one shot. Not sure. Needs experimenting.

I'm sure you must have a book in mind with this and all the other church interiors that you have photographed so beautifully. It's really a rich, wonderful and varied collection.

... but not sure what form it will take. Thanks for the comment, Jack, these Romanesque churches and the development of Gothic vaulting are fascinating to me. The search for maximum height and maximum light in the service of their deity changed everything in the world of ecclesiastical architecture, probably in archictecture period. It all came from the Romanesque renaissance, though, and that is what fascinates me the most.

... no, this one was handheld. I waited for an hour and a half for the light to get to this point and grabbed the shot.

... this is one of my favorites, maybe because it is a modest little shot. Waited a long time to get the light right and click, it was over. There is no processing on this shot ... it is just the beauty of Vezelay in the afternoon light.

The light, the light, the light...bathed in light. Magnificent! Worth every moment of your wait for this; and hand-held at that...Well done, mon Ami! Cheers! Chris
