I'm really getting a kick out of all the pet portraits on this site. They're great -- this one included. Love the way the pitch-black background and the 'expression" give a bit of a brooding feel, while the bright colors of the feather betray that feeling. Great juxtaposition. Sorta like an angry clown or something.

I wanted to get a close-up shot of my cockatiel using my Nikon 995,

and this is one of the results. What do you think?

I can appreciate this photo very much. My daughter has a cockatiel and he wants to kill me, so photographing him has been difficult. Very nice portrait of a small creature, I think it captures the expression of these great little birds.
