beautiful range of colors here. what did you use to light this? window? typically, I'd go with bw as a choice but not this time. it has a romantic quality to it.

Thanks for commenting Knicki. Glad you like it. For this I handheld a portable reading lamp type thingy infront of the blooms. I was a few feet from a window, so some light from there may also have lit up the shot. Thanks again. Megan

Warm high key image with plenty of space. The mixture of reds and yellows is interesting in that the reds dominate R, the yellows L. I would probably have cooled the colours slightly (e.g. the Photoshop Colour Balance or Selective Colour tools.) Megan, how did you set your white balance for this?

Thanks Seven for the Seventh comment on this image! Your comments are greatly appreciated. I know that I didn't set the white balance by using a grey card, since I do not own one. It was most likely on auto. I believe I did do a colour balance in GIMP. I am attaching the original photo which has cooler colors. This photo has no edits, except a crop. Megan

You have a lot of blue in the original, Megan; I understand your changes and think you did well with the balancing - the subject matter definitely calls for warmth.

I like the way you've put something in the negative space ie the gradient of colours shifting from bottom left to top right. This prevents it being too left heavy (I think rectangular portrait format would work too though).

Nice details on the flowers.

Thanks for the critique Dominique. The reason I chose this crop is because the background I was using was not large enough to leave more space around the flowers. I suppose I could crop off some of the right to make a more rectangular shot.

Very beautiful, this is my favourite in the serie. Simple idea but original, very well developed.
