Base Jumper Landing

mat_nikon

The long ribbons that you see are the plastic lines that the police use to cordon off places. I think the base jumpers tie it to their bodies so that they can see direction of other jumpers. That would be the only time someone looks cool with plastic tied to themselves.

Comments on how this photo can be improved. (I know that the focus is

a bit blurry, and grain is noticeable.) Please rate the photo also.

Thanks.

I think the shot is really nice. You're right about the focus and grains, but I guess it was a very tricky shot, huh? There's even too much contrast - the parachute is too white, the jumper is in too dark a shadow. I don't know that much about film (I'm digital) but I guess a slower might have solved some of the problems. Still like the shot, though.

Thanks for the comments. Its not that difficult a shot to make, as there were a lot of jumpers coming down that day. Just a matter of luck in getting one to fill the frame correctly. The contrast in the chutes is probably due to Kodak HIE infrared. Its know for its halo effect. I'll try to squeeze a bit more detail in Photoshop later and repost.

(As a side note, jumping off the tower is the hard part. One of the jumpers broke his leg while landing. Hope he is ok.)
