sapsey 0 Posted October 6, 2006 Lightning is fantastic when you can get it. I have not had the most experience with lightning as I live in a an area with one thunder storm every few years ( I have only two shots in my gallery with lightning). But I do know that relying on the strike alone to give you a good composition is all luck. So the trick is to give youself an additional composition with trees, buildings, clouds. As for exposer, you have the right idea, set the exposer to expose the area of anticipation correctly. Depending on how close you expect control your stops. For instance, close up will give you alot more aditiional light and will exose the area around the strike itself. so underexpose by a stop or two. I have just read the science and passing it on. But trust me on the composition. We live in a world where digital cameras are making it easy to get lightning and keep taking cost free shots until they get a strike. But a great shot will have more than just lightning. This well captured by the way, congrats. Link to comment
