kleintje 0 Posted August 1, 2006 I'll second what Kim S said. Whenever I'm in a city, I tend not to see any photo opportunities (not really that city kind of person) and I really admire those who actually see them and manage to make something beautiful out of it, like this photo. You can just keep looking at it, discovering new things all the time... Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 1, 2006 Thanks Kim! Ilse, thank you, and I'm certainly not a city person...but it's fascinating to visit, as long as I can go home soon! Link to comment
gungajim 75 Posted August 1, 2006 I like the contrast of the structured grid over the wavy reflections in the background. Link to comment
kleintje 0 Posted August 1, 2006 Kim, I understand perfectly, but I just want to get out of cities so fast, I forget to look around and don't even notice the (rare?) beauties like the one you captured... Link to comment
susan stone 0 Posted August 1, 2006 I really like the colors and abstract design elements in this image. Reflections can be so graphic and create such wonderful patterns. Way to go girl. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 2, 2006 Thanks to Jana, GungaJim, Ilse, and Susan; and thanks for visiting! Ilse, take along your camera next time you're forced into a city...it might make it easier! Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted August 2, 2006 I too tend to overlook many tiny scenes in the city. One need keen observation. This is a well caught building & its reflection. Link to comment
giuseppe_miriello1 0 Posted August 4, 2006 very nice and well seen reflection kim... the thing i like most is the difference in color between the main building and the reflected one, this helps to avoid the "flat out" effect given by a long tele and a very tight geometrical pattern... also the curved windows help this way, reflecting each time a different image... well done. ken dennis 0 Posted August 13, 2006 Nice lines and reflections! Reminds me of some work done by someone else, but I cant put my finger on who! Oh! Hi Kim. I'm back again, sorry I hadn't checked in for awhile, we lost our connection for a time, hope you and yours is doing well. Ken. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 16, 2006 Cherlyn and Giuseppe, thanks! Ken, I wondered what happened to you, but then I haven't been here much this summer, so I can't complain! We are all well, and you? I don't come up with much originality, I'm afraid...that's why I like PN; I get ideas from everyone else :~) Link to comment
andre_mcnichols 0 Posted August 21, 2006 That's one subject I didn't expect to find in your portfolio, you don't really strike me as a city girl. You did a great job with it, maybe you should go to the city more often! Andre Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 21, 2006 Thanks Andre; I have to visit cities sometimes. I love the windows. What I'd really like to photograph is the people, but I don't dare :~) Link to comment
andre_mcnichols 0 Posted August 21, 2006 Street photography is almost non existent here in Quebec because publishing someone's picture without their autorization is illegal unless it's "public interest", which means that newspapers are the only ones doing anything close to street photography. I noticed however that if you camera is big enough and visible enough a lot of people will give you a smile when you try to take their portrait without hiding. Even my rebel xt will work well for that if I have a petal shade on the lens :) You should give it a try next time you're in the city! Andre Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 22, 2006 Hmm, I don't think my camera's big enough :) The best shots would have been on the subway with the subjects not aware of the photo, which would have been next to impossible. Maybe I can try some zoom shots sometime, though. Thanks! Link to comment
lbattjes 0 Posted August 23, 2006 I love the lines here...very appealing. I'm not a city girl, but I LOVE Chicago! If you missed it this visit, next time you go look really closely at the buildings...they often imbed pieces of famous sites, bldgs, etc into the architecture...it's fascinating! :) Leslie Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 24, 2006 Thanks Leslie, I'll have to ask my husband's relatives about that, so maybe we can slow down enough to see that next time! I spent most of my time taking a photo, then running to catch up to the group, so I missed the details. Link to comment
